Ruth Nina Welsh is an English singer-songwriter, pianist and guitarist whose signature, haunting vocals captivate listeners. Ruth’s powerful lyrics and acoustic mix of styles – blues, folk, country, up-tempo and ballads – attract fans of singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Leonard Cohen, Joan Armatrading and Suzanne Vega.
Severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, and other chronic illnesses, cut off Ruth’s musical career back in 2002. In 2019, after many silent years, Ruth began releasing her catalogue of studio songs and home recordings. These recordings span four decades of creative work. All the newly commissioned painted artwork images are taken from photos when Ruth was singing and playing.
